When Recovering data from Netware volumes the following must be taken into consideration: Novell Netware does not use a the same type of file system as Linux or Microsoft Windows. Therefore only products certified for use with Novell Netware will be successful in retrieving information from the Netware servers. Therefore the best file recovery is a good backup strategy. As information encoded upon tape drives and other backup media is much more accessible to programs like Ontrack or PCI file inspector.
Backup Data:
With the introduction of the Novell Suse Linux platform the availability of finding a Novell backup managed solution is becoming more and more difficult and as NetWare continues to be phased out there will be less and less products available however there are still products available for the NetWare platform
Upon researching the problem I have found that ARCserve backup software is a viable and secure solution to the NetWare backup problem, and it makes data restoration simple easy and effective.
For Smaller business the Symantec backup exec program is useful in providing a simple and targeted backup solution and is one of the last new products that will likely be geared toward NetWare servers Restoring Data is simple easy and effective with this solution.
