Novell Netware Lab: Instructor Guide

 

Lab Rationale

 

            This lab will introduce students to the Novell Netware operating system and allow students to better respond to the Netware platform in there professional lives. Additionally forming a basis for understand the Novell e-directory will allow students to have hands on experience working with one of the future trends in e-directory networking the combination of e-directory and Linux through Novell’s acquisition of Suse.

Scenario 2

Upon successful completion of this section the student will deliver a live recovery worksheet (comprising 50% of this sections grade points) and a small typed report illustrating the forensics methodology used to gather the information during the exercise (comprising 50% of this sections grade points)

Upon successful completion of this scenario the student will hand in to the instructor one floppy disk with 3 recovered images of “child pornography” recovered from Mr. Donuts home directory, additionally the students will hand in a properly formatted forensics report illustrating there actions, therefore the student will achieve 100% on the practical if the 3 images are restored and teachers judgment be used for marks on the written paper. It is suggested that 50% of the assignment be the practical disk while the remainder 50% be allocated into the written assignment.

 

 

How to – Lab

In order to successfully complete scenario 2, students must gather information from the Novell Netware server, only the methodology outlined in the Netware security knowledgebase article “Netware first response” is considered a correct way of completing the assignment, therefore if the instructor observers the student gathering information from another source that portion of the assignment should be graded as a zero.
